This spring Antoinette has brought in a brand not unfamiliar to the store. Issey Miyake makes his appearance once more on our racks through Pleats Please, and Bao Bao; his incredibly unique line of bags that we are particularly excited about this season.
Issey Miyake debuted his first collection in 1971, and within two years he was participating in Paris Fashion week. From the very beginning, his concept of clothing “as a piece of cloth” was greatly accepted in the fashion community. Throughout the years, he continued to experiment with different ideas that would push the boundaries of fashion, and In 1989 he created his original pleated pieces which quickly became his namesake.
His brand has grown over the years to include other divisions of Issey Mikaye like Issey Miyake men, Cauliflower, HaaT, IN-EI, Homme Plissé, and the above mentioned Pleats Please and Bao Bao. He even has his own line of perfumes and watches.
Bao Bao bags are unlike any other. Architectural, and edgy, yet soft and flexible. They are bold and modern, but perfectly functional. The clutch is ideal for evening as a way to modestly accentuate an elegant black dress. The totes are a great size for everyday use and make a subtle statement. What’s really special about these bags is not only do they look great on the shoulder, but when set down; they almost cascade into a beautiful pile of tessellated tiles. Made of diverse, light-weight materials like Italian leather and Japanese poly, they wear beautifully and are easy to maintain.
We are very happy to introduce you to this line. Come and discover our hand selected pieces for yourself at Antoinette, always fashion.
